In force from 20 October 2026.

ACRA has brought the next phase of the Corporate and Accounting Laws (Amendment) Act 2025 into force. Every company that files an annual return is affected.

A company filing its annual return now confirms that the particulars ACRA holds are accurate for its directors, chief executive officers, secretaries, auditors and relevant members: names, identification details, nationality, contact address, appointment dates, registered office address and shareholding details, where applicable. The return also asks whether anyone performs the role of CEO. A company limited by guarantee confirms its total number of members.

A registered office no longer has to open to the public for minimum hours. Company records stay open to inspection: on reasonable notice, for at least two hours on each relevant business day. A new registered office address is still filed within 14 days.

Accounting firms run as sole proprietorships or partnerships now carry professional indemnity insurance, as public accounting corporations and accounting LLPs already do. The amount is the highest of $1 million, $500,000 per public accountant in the firm, or two and a half times the firm's gross income in its last financial year (up to $50 million).

ACRA asks companies and their filers to review the records in Bizfile and update any particulars before submitting the annual return, because the filer now confirms them. For an accounting practice in partnership or sole proprietorship form, the change is a new insurance duty at the amount ACRA sets.
